"Yeshua" is Jesus Christ. "Messianic Writings" are the Christian Bible/'New Testament.' This is a Protestant Christian movement that appropriates Jewish terms, labels ("rabbi" for preacher, "synagogue" for church), and symbols. None of the actual mainstream Jewish denominations (Orthodox, Masorti/Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal, Liberal) recognise them as Jewish. NOT ONE. My concern is primarily that this group present themselves to the public as "Jewish" and have done so even at a Holocaust memorial event. This is cultural appropriation and as such is offensive to actual Jews. So too, are the recent comments of another reviewer who feels that, as a learned Christian (he goes into detail about his background), he is entitled to define who and what Jews are. One wonders if he "explains" in this way to other ethnicities, cultures, or religions and tries to define them as well? To that reviewer: I know Jewish theology quite well and am also quite familiar with "Church theology." I know quite well the central tenets and history of "Messianic Judaism"--it is a sect of Christianity by any reasonable definition. As for my motivation, it's sheer arrogant presumption on the part of the gentle reviewer to speculate in such an insulting and pretentious manner ("Oh, and the Lord. He knows." Please!). BTW, some of the reviews here are being posted by Adat Yeshua members who play significant roles in their church. This violates Google's policy: "Review is from someone affiliated with the business or a competitors business."

These people have such a reverence for God and the Torah, the teaching is much deeper than other Synagogues that I've been to and equally you can kind of feel God's presence in the room.

I spent 30 years in the church. 2 years of that was spent as a full time student at an Anglican Theological College and 10 years was spent in full time Christian ministry, teaching and preaching Christian theology. I dont think its unreasonable to suggest that I am very familiar with the beliefs of the Christian church. However, as the years past and I began a deeper study of Scripture, I became increasingly uncomfortable with what was missed out of Gods Word by the church, what was altered and what was added. 6 years ago, on a visit to Norwich, I came across Adat Yeshua. I began a study of the beliefs of Messianic Judaism (not to be confused with Hebrew roots). 3 years ago we moved to Norwich to be a closer part of Adat Yeshua and continue my studies with the same passion as when I was in the church. What I have learned here covers the entirety of Scriptures, adding nothing, changing nothing and leaving nothing out. With my extensive knowledge of Christian theology and beliefs, and my fast growing knowledge of those of Messianic Judaism, I think that I am in a position to make a judgment that few of the detractors on this site are in the position to make. For those who write a review here and claim that Messianic Jews are just Christians, and that Adat Yeshua is a church and not a synagogue, they are simply showing that: a) They clearly have no clear idea of what church theology consists of. b) They have made no effort to find out what the Messianic Jews in Adat Yeshua believe, teach and live out. c) They have never visited Adat Yeshua. d) They are obviously motivated by something other that the Word of God. Is it Fear? Hatred? Jealousy? Or something else? Only they know. Oh, and the Lord. He knows.

This synagogue gets back to what true Judaism was in the 1st century with the Jewish Messiah Yeshua at the center; just as it was for thousands of Jews at that time who believed in His Name. After the Temple was destroyed in 70CE Rabbinical Judaism came into being in the 4th century. The Messianic Jewish community here are all welcoming and knowledgeable.
