Pass through the wrought iron gates on the main road through the village, walk down a long grassy path beside a paddock and the church appears in front of you. Inside, the church is full of light, welcoming and beautifully kept. Whilst it's not obvious at first glance, the weeping chancel is quite remarkable. The organ has colourfully painted panels, there is an incredibly old wooden chest and some fine stained glass windows. The royal arms are dated 1953 for Elizabeth II; Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, also made a private visit here. There are lots of interesting memorials, brasses and gravestones to see. The church benefits from an idyllic location on the banks of the river. Make sure you leave time to wander through the well-tended churchyard and sit on one of the benches under the trees to enjoy the views of the Norfolk countryside. Well worth a visit.
