my mum has been in the Mountfield almost a year now. the staff are caring, compassionate and really take the time to look after every individual in their care. I see some recent negative reviews, these bear no resemblance to my experience.

My Dad went into Mountfield Care home for a weekend as a try for further support care in the future (to allow my 75 year old Mum a well earned rest) Although the staff we met all seemed lovely and the care home looks very nice I have my doubts about the level of care. Dad came home with sickness and diarrhoea which they may or may not have been aware of originally in the home but informed Mum as she was collecting him. The informed us he had been showered which wouldnt normally have been necessary as he was showered the day he went in. I suspect he had been ill! The most shocking thing was that they had thrown wet and dirty laundry in Dads suitcase with his clean clothes! Not even in a plastic bag. Very odd and not professional. Unfortunately this seems to be an acceptable level of care in all care homes in Norwich. Weve tried a few now and all have had disappointing standards of care. Its very hard to support our parents with so little genuine care about.

My father moved into Mountfield care home recently and I cannot fault the care and compassion he has been given so far. From my first telephone call onwards the staff are very professional and always take the time to speak. One member of staff had finished her shift and was heading home; but stopped to speak to me about how my father was settling in, I thought was really kind. I am so very impressed and in my father's words...'If you ever have to come to one of these places, don't worry because they are really good and look after me well.' Thank you so much to all the staff, I feel so relieved that he has 24 hour care now. Maggie :-)

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!! My mum with dementia was booked in for a week - she was taken home after the 1st visit less than 48hrs later - total lack of care & humanity- wasnt dressed, wasnt given meds, wasnt given correct food, dirty clothing put back in drawer. Horrible place - no respect whatsoever. Doesnt even deserve 1 star. AVOID!!!

It was the first time our mum stayed in a care home and the whole experience left our family very sad and upset. She was going to stay there for 1 week but we needed to take her out after just 2 days and will never send her to this place again. My sister visited mum and she came home deeply upset and she cried in the car all the way home. When she visited mum at 11 am, she found our mum was shaking, crying and dressed as no dignity way - she was still in her nightie almost exposing her breast, without any cover up cardigans in the community hall. When my sister asked why mum wasn't dressed up at 11 am, the staff told her because all trousers were in the wash waiting to come back. My sister was shocked as our mum has never wet herself at home so she wondered if mum wasn't asked or taken to the toilet at all. She checked the linen bin in mum's room and they were all still in there unwashed. After she contacted our mum's partner, he visited the care home immediately. He found the trousers were all back in her drawers folded up and dirty. When he questioned about it, the manager told him that our mum must've done which was a total insult and untruthful as sadly mum has lost the ability for the task long time ago. Also, he found on mum's lunch plate only hard food despite the fact he clearly requested to give her soft food only as she cannot eat hard food. After he took her home, she was so hungry and ate so much because she couldn't eat the hard food at the care home. After we received the totally uncaring and upsetting experience, we don't recommend anybody to send a precious family members to this place.
