I have been to this surgery multiple times and have had nothing but excellent experiences with all the doctors and nurses I've seen (and spoken to on the phone) so far. I can't remember all the names but Dr Al Ahmed and Dr Ben Mahoney both provided excellent care and asked lots of questions to understand my symptoms. On the other hand, the reception area isn't the most friendly and well-thought out. They do have a very strict policy on mask wearing even now, and can come across a little abrupt/rude when asking you to wear one (asking with a smile would make the world of difference). And the receptionists are behind a fibre-glass screen for covid protection which makes having private / personal conversations quite difficult. I tend to avoid reception when possible and check-in at the digital check-in point instead. Main thing is doctors and nurses are great.

I cant actually describe into words how bad my first experience at this medical practice was. Immediately after walking into the doors I was asked if I had a mask. I dont. Due to a medical exemption. According to the receptionists, my medical exemption does not apply to their practice as they have their own rules. To say I was shocked by the discrimination I received would be an understatement. She told me I could wait outside for my appointment, meanwhile the waiting room was literally empty. Furthermore, the ladies working in the dispensary right next to the reception had their masks below their nose, or were not wearing one at all. The contradiction in their rules are almost laughable. So the virus clearly doesnt affect them, but I have to be told I can wait OUTSIDE for my appointment. Are we living in 1920s segregation? I am absolutely appalled. It was quite obvious the receptionist went ahead to the doctor seeing me and told her I wasnt going to be wearing a mask - DUE TO MY EXEMPTION - and in turn, this doctor was extremely rude from start to finish of my appointment. She couldnt have been less interested in why I was there. Offered no help. Only suggestion as to which Id already tried. I cant fathom how horrific this experience was. The NHS is the envy of the world apparently. Well, I will be avoiding it at all costs. I will also be taking this surgery to court and making a formal complaint with regards to the discrimination I felt today. An extremely upsetting and disappointing experience.
