We stayed in Emerald express and was thoroughly impressed, it was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for our 2 night break, Just a tip if you are going on the train, we booked return tickets on the steam train and drove to tenterden to get the full train ride, however we was told the tickets are a rover ticket and you can hop on and off wherever all day, so we could have took the train right from our accommodation to tenterden then back to Bodiam and then back to the accommodation again.

Railway retreats absolutely exceeded all of our expectations. We stayed in the ammunition wagon for 2 nights. Booking and arrival was easy with a nice parking area for one car directly opposite the wagon. The wagon was spotlessly clean, well appointed for a short stay for two people and the welcome package was a very nice touch. The bathroom is very nice, modern and perfectly usable. The shower in particular is worthy of mention as excellent. The area is quiet, all very well kept and an enjoyable place to spend some time. We had a BBQ on the small outside BBQ and the seating area was really very pleasant in the evening. Local Indian Restaurant, caf and pub all within walking distance and the benefit of being able to see the railway really clearly from both inside the wagon and the outside area. Thoroughly recommended and we will 100% be returning again soon.
