Great Dixter House & Gardens

The most lovely , beautiful garden, the rich and vibrant colour combinations always lift my spirits in all seasons.

Super gardens, at this time of year many varieties of tulip on display, as well as my spring favourites primroses and bluebells The old farm buildings are worth wandering into , a real step back in time, I was a little wary of what appeared to be the dried giant hogweeds in one of these barns, but I have since learned they are giant fennel, which grows in these gardens The nursery is quite extensive, but I didn't purchase anything, but I did have a ploughman's lunch at the cafe. As for the house, limited access, but what you can see is the oldest part, dating back to 1450? There are three rooms to look at each with a guide to explain things All in all a very satisfying couple of hours, and I dare say the gardens will be even more spectacular in the forthcoming months

The fascinating history of Great Dixter House makes a great visit. Staff very informative and garden is beautiful.
