Chris is an absolute joke!! So many errors in his work and he's impossible to get hold of. He should not be getting any business, he's an absolute waste of time and energy. He's wasted two months of our time!

We recently submitted a planning application for a loft conversion and started to receive letters from party wall surveyors, some were forceful and intimidating. We undertook our own research and came across Mace Davies. Chris was very approachable and took the time to discuss the process and the implications to us and our neighbour. We jointly appointed Chris with our neighbour who prepared a detailed schedule of condition of our neighbours property and prepared a party wall award which allowed our builder to start. We found Chris to be very thorough and quickly responded to our queries. We would gladly use Chris again and will recommend him in the future.

I would like to give a Testimonial in respect of Mr Chris Mace of Mace Davies Chartered Surveyors. Buying a house is probably the biggest purchase we will ever make. It can turn out to be quite a daunting experience. After you've maybe looked at a number of properties and identified the one you think suits you best, got your heart racing at the finance you have to arrange you then need to make sure the one you've chosen isn't going to give you any nasty surprises. The house was around 100 years old and had not had any remedial work since the early 1970's. It had sheets double glazing just fixed to the inside of the sash windows, a distinct musky odour from the ancient soft furnishings. An aqua coloured bathroom reminiscent of my childhood and a brown kitchen with what looked like flooring on its walls, and a dilapidated lean to conservatory. The garden had been completely let go with a large amount of mature trees. I of course was viewing with my rose tinted glasses on and imagining how fantastic it could be, but I needed a reality check to find out if this building was structurally sound and would be worth the money. So that's why I invited Chris Mace to come and do a full survey for me. Firstly he was able to walk me round the house and point out the construction and educate me a bit about some of the building processes, particularly the wooden floor and air bricks. He was able to point out some issues just by eye before completing a full survey taking a few hours. Essentially the house was just old and had not been maintained internally or externally for some time. Chris provided a detailed report which contained photo to illustrate any areas of concern. My solicitor and I were able to pick through and fully investigate the areas of concern. After investigations I was happy to proceed with the purchase. So I'm going to quote this wise piece of advice Matthew 7:24-27 Build Your House on the Rock Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it. So be a Wise Man and give Chris Mace a call. I would rate this business as 0 if possible. Chris mace came to my property to do a survey on 28/2/22 he took some paperwork promised to give report by end of the week. No report no return of paperwork no answers to emails. Have phoned 8 times various secretaries message him etc but say they dont speak to him, even one said this sort of thing often happens. I have asked for paperwork back and reason why he did not do report but even that has not happened I do not understand how a business can be run like this. Please save time and find alternative surveyors.

We appointed Chris for undertaking a home survey for a semi detached property. Chris was initially professional and undertook the survey. However once the survey was completed, we paid the fees and after we received the report, Chris went AWOL when we raised follow up questions on some findings in the report. We waited for weeks, followed up on emails and also called his office (who kept apologising and saying that he was busy but will get back) but he never acknowledged our emails or called back. After few weeks we got an email from him citing personal reasons which we understood and waited again. When we checked back with him after 2 weeks, he didnt reply. We called his office and they said he was out on a survey and busy, but he emailed later that day still making excuse and stating that he hadnt got back to work. There were some inconsistent findings in the report and we really wanted his views on our follow up questions but it turned out to be an impossible onerous exercise! Chris is professional and responsive only until he gets his fees! No care or concern for his clients after...HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE.
