I recently had to have my 14 year old cat put to sleep here. This was unexpected. He was due to come in for his vaccinations on the same appointment with his brother. The care and compassion that has been shown by Companion Care Northampton has been amazing. Especially Mandy who went the extra mile.

Booked my cat in for a weight check and just general checkup because her behaviour has changed lately, saw the nurse who explained that we needed to see a vet because she could only do a general health check, but not diagnose or prescribe anything. Went to see if the vet had any appointments for later on that dat, then came back and said the vet was free and could see Remedy straight away. Went into the vets room, she listened to our concerns and explanations, asked lots of questions, checked Remedy thoroughly, said there was no lumps or bumps, temperature was fine, heart rate was a little fast but that's most likely due to stress at being at the vets, poked and prodded etc. Said she could do a blood glucose test to check for diabetes but it would cost, explained the cost and left the choice entirely up to us, didn't push or pressure us into having it done, we had it done anyway and although it was slightly higher than it should be, it could be stress related and for it to be diabetes, it would need to be more than double that. Gave us general advice about how to get her moving more (very lazy cat), what we should do with regards to her food, suggested we replaced her biscuits with weight control biscuits, said look fir the word 'light' on the biscuit bag, and follow the feeding guide, said to bring her back in about 3 months for a follow-up but to bring her back sooner if we have any concerns. Both the nurse and the vet were absolutely lovely, really friendly and, explained things clearly, and most importantly of all we're great with Remedy, pretty much constantly stroking her, reassuring her, giving her fuss etc
