Cliff is very friendly and has great local knowledge, recommending some gorgeous local sites that we visited.
Northallerton was very close, though we didn't explore much of it, the local restaurants were great, and there is plenty to do just a short drive/train ride away if you want to go a little further out.
I hugely recommend Heathcliff Lodge, and I plan on returning for future holidays.
