Service: Excellent.
Product:
I opted for a gas sprint single monitor mount.
- General Quality/Price/Make:
The general quality is outstanding.
Gas Spring Mechanism: having looked inside the armitself, I found a positive surprise. This is not your ordinary standard run of the mill cheap quality made overseas gas spring mechanism in an arm. Its a "SUSPA". For those who dont know, Suspa makes the gas springs for more demanding applications such as your car boot, the bones in sit-stand desks and others. For those who care about the origin of what they buy, they are headquartered in Germany with a UK presence. Bottom line, youre buying the same comfort you would have with your car boot mechanism in terms of sturdiness.
Metal quality and looks of the arm: a nice brushed heavy aluminum silver that looks like it would withstand the test of time. Looks and feels nice.
Price and Alternatives: yes. This is considered a premium product. But you are paying for great quality.
The only contender in the market in terms of quality is probably Ergotron. However, they use spring mechanisms in their arms. Springs, could provide a little more mental assurance and classic appeal, but less buttersmooth mechanisms. Additionally, most other makers provide a limited ability in terms of the forward and backward tilt (around 20 for their best arm downward). Ergomounts arms, however, range between 25-over 90 in most arms. Personally, if I buy a premium mount, I would hate to be limited to a 5 downward tilt. Ergonounts solves that problem
VERDICT AND CONCLUSION: for those looking for monitor mounts for personal or professional uses:
Q: Should I buy from Ergomounts or any of its suppliers? Or should I opt for other brands?
- Having explored other options, I would say yes. And especially if youre using an ultrawide and curved monitor (Im looking at you G9 people specifically). Curved screens require felxible mounts to adjust since the viewing angles are more critical for the user. Ergomounts provide the best option in this regard.
Additionally, if price is an obstacle, they do provide gas-less mounts that are cheaper options such as the 400D, but support less weight.
Thanks for a great service!
