We went for dinner in the Axe and Cleaver and were seated in the conservatory. A lot of windows were open and it was cold as it was very windy. Got warmer after the windows were closed. We had to wait a very long time (about 45 minutes) before we received our dinner. Other guests in the conservatory had a similarly long wait. Ordered the Axe burger, which was massive and very nice. Good quality meat, nice enough side salad and chips OK. The ribs and chicken strip combo was OK, not great. The temperature of the combo was a bit on the lukewarm side and the chicken strips were more like little chicken pieces and a little bit dry. Dessert was again OK, but not great. We ordered the Caramel Shortbread Chocolate Stack which contains 3 mousses, but except for the chocolate mousse, the other 2 tasted a bit rubbery. Not a lot of shortbread either. The chocolate brownie was nice. Service was friendly, but the wait was far too long really. Was expecting more after reading all the good reviews. It's not a bad place at all, but not one of my favourites. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Didn't like the fact you had to line up to order your food right behind where we were sitting Why can't the waitess take orders at table ! First set of silverware dropped off to eat prawn cocktail was a Spoon Every condiment they brought to the table was empty And the one waitress had a skirt on that barely covered her backside, not what I wanna see when out for a nice meal Service definitely let this place down
