Regretfully, I am compelled to review the unethical practice at Shiluns Chemist. Having taken my 3-month old baby to A+E, my wife presented a prescription for a 7-day course of liquid antibiotics to Shiluns. She was given one bottle of 100ml (which lasts for 5 days) and should have been given an owing slip for a second bottle to complete the total course. When she came home without an owing slip, I called the pharmacist to question this and I was told that they wouldnt get paid for the second bottle of antibiotics so they are not obliged to provide this (even if this means my baby would not receive the full course). Little did he know that I was a community pharmacist for 8 years before I moved to the NHS and called him out on this hugely unethical practice, which would have gone unnoticed if I didnt have prior knowledge of prescription reimbursement procedures. And of course, he would most definitely get paid for the second bottle (which he undoubtedly must have claimed for without actually supplying it to us). I can describe this pharmacist and also name him but I wont do that on this platform as I dont think thats appropriate. I just hope that he has had a long, hard think about his practice since this incident. Just to clarify, this was around a year ago (I should have written this review a while ago) and obviously I changed my pharmacy at that point so I dont know if that pharmacist is still there or whether or not the management has since changed. May be worth travelling slightly further to a different pharmacy, especially if you have young children.
