I have known Alex for over 30 years, initially he did work for my Father on more than one occasion, including some outside concrete balcony work / patios / Kitchen / Bathrooms. The quality of his work was first class as well as his creativity and flexibility. Alex then did a few small jobs for us, whilst we were living in Devon. In 2011 we embarked on a large-scale building project in Essex, transforming a very ugly 1960s house into our dream home. This included some demolition, 3 large extensions, remodelling / re roofing / kitchens / bathrooms / large scale drainage / glazing / rendering and patios and decking. Alex agreed to undertake the work which took around 20 months. We asked Alex to get involved in some of the planning at final stages also. Alexs creativity really came to the fore as he helped us turn a really basic, poorly designed house into something a lot more special. As we went through the build he showed real flexibility making changes we requested as we went, and dealing with issues as they would arise, including having to dig significant foundations and dealing with some unexpected surprises on the original house, which he and his team just took in their stride. He helped us decide many of the details down to lighting / electrics / placing of baths showers / doors and just made it all work. Alex and his team completed all of the works excluding plumbing and electrics. Alex installed a kitchen supplied by Howdens, which he then fitted in such a way, including building some bespoke units that many people, including Estate Agents who have recently valued the property in 2022, believe it to be a bespoke handmade kitchen. The quality of his work was evident through the build, but even better 12 years later, not a settlement crack inside or out, no snags just a first class build. Everything worked from the start and everything works today. I cant speak highly enough of Alex, from his creativity, flexibility and ability to turn his hand to any job on site and make a success of it. You can trust him to do what he says and always turns up when he says. We are embarking on some renovation on another property in the South West in 2022 and we sincerely hope Alex will be able to assist, in fact we will wait until he is available..! If you would like to speak with me directly I would be more than happy to provide my contact details separately. Peter Owen

We feel we have been lucky to have had Pride and Joy to do our extension. Ideas and advice throughout has been very useful. The work is top notch and all the guys on the job friendly and accommodating. I would certainly recommend Pride and Joy to anyone.

To further expand on the review by Paul Clark: The extension was to remove a previous dining room & conservatory extension and replace with a two story lounge and master bedroom above. We chose Pride & Joy because from the outset they showed the most enthusiasm and attention to detail to our project (and this was only at the quote stage!) Work began on time and I was impressed with their readiness every morning as they were always early and ready to start as soon as was an acceptable time as we live in a typical suburban street. Mostly fortunate with the weather for the structure construction of the extension the guys were able to make decent headway which then allowed work to continue inside when the weather inevitably changed for the worse. All throughout the process, Alex offered very helpful ideas and suggestions for our project as it was the first we had experience of - These included dividing what would have been a very large bathroom instead into a large bathroom and ensuite for the other bedroom (increasing the appeal overall of the property) and coming up with a solution to the new bathroom(s) waste water removal pipework which would have originally needed a saniflo installed. The team Alex had working for him were friendly and hard working and I believe that as they were made up of family or friends/workmates that had known each other for a long time this proved very beneficial resulting in the level of quality they produced in their workmanship. I will be recommending Pride & Joy to people I know and a neighbour impressed with what they have seen at our property is already making inquiries for a project they need undertaking. Thankyou Pride & Joy for an excellent extension and being such a pleasant bunch of people to have around. (Please note that external lighting and a step down from the patio doors have been added after the final photo was taken)
