I've almost been attacked by a suspicious guy once and I also saw someone stealing a bike a few steps from me. All of it in the early evening while, on the other side, there were families with kids playing in the playground. I had to call the police to report it. It's literally absurd! They should install lights and cameras to protect the public, especially those ones who live there or simply go to The Castle leisure centre.

Sitting across Elephant and Castle underground, it's a lovely little green square with very interesting landscaping, a pond, a lawn and playground for kids. On its borders there are cafs and a convenience store, so that it's possible to buy drinks and food to enjoy outdoors, if one doesn't mind sharing the space and meal with dogs.
