I expect if I hadn't had to cancel my advert, I might have been pleased enough with the service here. However I do believe the worth of any business is in how they treat you when things don't go exactly according to plan, and this is where there was a severe lack of empathy and customer service skills at Ludis. I was initially cold called by Joey who asked if I would be interested in advertising my business in a local catalogue due to be published. The conversation was light and friendly and followed up shortly by an email with plenty of information about what my options were for placing an advert. Most of the information displayed was about design, cost and the length of time the advert would be shown. Again, the tone was very informal. I decided to go ahead and emailed my preferences across to Joey and was later put in contact with Sian from the design team. No contract to sign, just a friendly email. Correspondence moving forward was somewhat infrequent, with staff holidays occasionally slowing the process down. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to close our business in the location due to for advertising in the weeks shortly after. Stressful enough. But I emailed Sian the same day that she confirmed receiving the artwork, apologised for the inconvenience and requested that the advert no longer be printed. This was still 4 weeks before the catalogue was due for print, and in my opinion, plenty of time to find a suitable replacement (attitudes willing). At this point I had paid 50% of the total fee as a deposit and of course, didn't expect a penny of it back. Weeks passed and in mid December, to my surprise, I begun receiving credit control notices for the final 50%. This is where all communication seemed to break down. I tried to contact both Joey and Sian using the phone numbers provided on their emails. No connection, just an intermittent beeping tone. Same issue when I tried to call the number provided on google. I tried emailing both Sian and Joey and have still never received an email response from either of them. After another credit note came through, I contacted the business owner responsible for having hired Ludis to explain my predicament. She copied in Dom at Ludis, who called me to briefly discuss the issue, then promised to call me back with a response. Only after chasing Dom, was I finally put in contact with Finlay, who I understand to be the director of the company. Finlay lacked all of the warmth and customer service that Joey had during the initial cold call. He informed me that while they had received my email notifying them of my withdrawal of consent, that they felt 4 weeks was not enough time to replace my custom and that they had therefor printed my add regardless. I was never notified of this at the time. Not only will the advert now be in circulation for 16 months for a business no longer operating in the area, but he informed me that as the notice was provided after 14 days of agreeing, I was still responsible for paying the remaining 50%. Zero apologies. Zero empathy for the situation. When I disputed the above, he simply told me refer back to the T&C's which were available in the original email from Joey, right near the bottom. One small sentence reading 'Any agreement is subject to our standard terms and conditions: Ludis Terms and Conditions (click and open hyperlink)'. That one sentence seems to have been quite costly to me. I hadn't been asked to tick or sign anything to ensure I had processed them, but according to trading standards, this would probably still be enough for Ludis to enforce them legally. So don't be fooled by the friendly initial calls and laid back emails, those T&C's as it turns out, are quite brutal. The bill has now been settled, and advert published without my consent. Tough lesson for me and I accept my role in that. But I think under the circumstances, the team at Ludis have been pretty inhumane. Finlay in particular and other reviews seem to confirm the same.
