I didn't see the buildings in the photo, I assume they were inside a courtyard that wasn't open. I just saw the outside of the building from Broad Chare. My companion was a local and he'd never heard of the Chares so I was sad that I couldn't show him something more spectacular but the plaque on the wall was interesting, referring as it does to 1505. What an amazing sight the Chares must have been, bustling with merchants and spices. I would love to have seen inside Trinity House. Sad that so little of Newcastle's medieval heritage survives.
