Gosforth Empire Club & Institute Ltd

I have been few times to the Gosforth Empire Club and Institute Ltd to play chess against the Gosforth players (I am from another club), either for a team match, or an individual league match, or a tournament (blitz was the last one). There are 2 main areas, upstairs for serious games, and downstairs for fun or game analysis. The serious area is where all the league games and tournament take place. Silence is enforced to allow maximum concentration and minimum distraction. It is attached to a pub so drinks and refreshments are available. All in all, great people and atmosphere. Only downside is finding a parking space around the place is a bit of a musical chairs exercise.

I visit there when the toon play southampton and i find everybody abso brilliant the staff looked after me so i looked after them with respect great place great toon folk friendly as u like willy gary terry and the rest spot on the bars staff great jacko cockney from southampton c u again very soon

Good little club, pool table in the bar. Well situated for access to the high street good beer. They also have a function room available for private party's
