After being a customer for years I've had terrible service for the last month, long story but here goes... *10th of Feb rang to sort renewal (due 15th). *Tried to do a change of address at the same time, something wouldn't work on the advisors computer so was told she'd speak to someone and call back. *No call back and no mention of any sort of charge. *15th Feb email received to confirm new policy and paper documents received a few days later, I presumed the customer advisor had taken care of everything and didn't need to speak to me again. *Skip forward to today 17th of March, check my emails after being at work all week (driving!!!!) to discover my insurance has been cancelled from the 13th of March due to non payment of change of address charge (27 approx). *Going back further the only other communication received was an email asking to pay the 27. I failed to see this until today. *Called today (17th march) to sort the problem and pay anything needed to be told the policy is cancelled they can't help, did I want to start a new policy involving all the expected deposit etc. *I questioned with a manager why I was not called or sent anything in the post informing me and they assured me that the email was enough in their opinion and I couldn't expect that level of customer service involving a phone call warning me that if the payment was not taken I would have the policy cancelled. Upshot is years of loyalty and literally thousands of pounds of custom in insurance bills alongside over a decade of my whole family being covered by their (very good) breakdown cover has come to an abrupt and very unhelpful end due to a missed 27 charge. Madness and complete inflexibility in helping to solve a problem and keep a customer. On the plus side I've gone with a new company, for the first time in many years and more then halved the 300+ cost I was paying yearly for my old Volvo. Lesson learned, forget loyalty when it comes to these big companies and 'trusted' names, counts for nothing, just go with what's cheapest.
