As a first-time guest at Travelodge, my experience was unfortunately not up to my expectations. I would rate my stay with 2 stars. One of the reasons being that the website advertised free parking, but I was forced to pay a fee of 5 pounds for parking upon arrival. Despite explaining this discrepancy, the staff did not honor the advertisement. Additionally, the broken light and dirty carpet in my room were disappointing and affected my overall experience. I hope that Travelodge can address these issues to improve the experience for future guests.

My father in law who is in his 50s was ejected from the hotel in the middle of the night after being accused of tampering with the smoke detector during a fire alarm which had been set off in a completely different room. Despite the fact that he had clearly been sleeping, hotel employees banged down his door and threatened to call the police if he didnt leave within 5 minutes. He was left stranded on his own overnight in an unfamiliar city in the rain on a bank holiday weekend and had to wait 8 hours until he could get the first train home. Absolutely disgraceful that no effort was made to establish the facts and that the default course of action was to throw him out on the street. Also doesnt seem to be the first time this has happened given previous reviews. He was genuinely shaken and upset by the experience and had to cut his weekend short because he was forced into an unsafe situation by this hotel.
