Another example of the NHS at its best. Staff working Sunday to fit hearing aid. A big 5-star thank you to Rohan, who treated me with kindness, care, patience and courtesy, making me feel very special as a patient, taking into account my needs and problems. Will always be grateful for this fantastic service. Best wishes Mrs Baxter

I have had outreach appointments with ENT Dept at Corbridge Health Centre for a couple of years, and through the nurse I got an outreach appointment with the Audiology team, as my hearing hadn't been tested for a number of years. As I don't live in the Newcastle area it is a lot easier for me to go to outreach clinics nearer home than to trek through to the Freeman Hospital site. The set-up at Corbridge is excellent, and better than the previous outreach site I had been seen at some years back.. The nurse who conducted the testing etc, Monika, was being monitored by a more experienced nurse, Emily, as she was still in training. They were both very good and made me feel relaxed and comfortable with the tests. My hearing has deteriorated slightly so I was fitted with a new hearing aid. Everything was explained as Monika set the hearing aid up via computer, and she explained how, as it is Bluetooth enabled, I can take phone calls, listen to audio from other devices such as radio, TV etc and hear them directly in my ear! It was amazing. I cannot fault the process at all, and I must say that Monika and Emily are shining examples of caring professionals, and excellent ambassadors for the Freeman Hospital Audiology Department!

I am being investigated for a condition by the Otolaryngology department of the Freeman Hospital. There has been some to-and-froing between my Alnwick GP and the hospital and a subsequent mix-up in the hospital tests, perhaps unsurprising in the current situation. However, my recent telephone consultation with a Speciality Doctor was the best I have experienced in 70 years. She quickly got to the point, explained matters exceptionally clearly and came up with a good plan. It was a pleasure to experience. Let's just hope that the GP follows up half as well.
