Large relaxed well stocked hotel bar with many large screens usually showing sports events including the golf and football. It has lots of tables with sofas and armchairs. The bar staff are friendly, intelligent, and chatty. The bar is usually pretty empty. I've never seen anyone drunk here and I've been many times - usually in the daytime admittedly. I was once her when a group will hold their conference here - I was allowed to continue tapping on my laptop which is what I do (I'm a writer). A full menu is available including meals and snacks. I order a diet coke. I sometimes order a cheesy garlic pitta bread snack which takes 15 mins and is tasty. I have ordered other meals and have no complaints about any of them. Clean toilets are down the corridor. There is good WiFi. There's a restaurant next to the bar which I've been in when relatives stay at the hotel - we ate together. There's another smaller bar near the front of the hotel that serves bar meals. I've eaten there. I've also eaten outside which is nice when its sunny, but this experience is somewhat spoiled by the noise from the main road into Newcastle which it looks onto - despite their best efforts to screen it with foliage. The is part of the Holiday Inn. I've never stayed here, but my relatives do and say it's good. The front of the hotel has lots of space for taxis dropping people off or picking them up. Newcastle city centre is maybe a five minute walk away, as are all the bars and restaurants of Osborne Road just around the corner. Jesmond Dene (a long small river-based park) is probably ten minutes away. There are many hotels on Osborne Road, but this is one of the best and it's well situated for the city centre.
