Love this building. It's a stunning old college. The interior is fantastic. I have only visited, but I hope I'll have some time in the near future to see some of their studio spaces. The outside could be spruced up more .... It has the potential to be an amazing little hub for creatives in Newcastle. Some more events or maybe advertisement for current events would be awesome. I am in love with the communal area .... its absolutely stunning. In all fairness, the whole building has charm. It's one of those places with history and character. Please don't ever modernise it.

I tired to rent a studio from Breeze Creatives to work on some art projects I had in my mind for quite sometime. This is when they were still in the Newcastle city centre (corner of John Dobson Street & Market St). I emailed them and managed to arrange a viewing. The viewing went well (or so I thought) and we agreed I would be renting one of the smaller studios to start with. I was very happy and excited at this point- to was going to be my first studio ever! I paid a deposit and a first months rent upfront to the receptionist after the viewing. I asked for a hand written receipt. I was told I'll soon receive a copy of my agreement via email. Two weeks went by and I received no emails or reply form anyone in the organisation. I emailed them again to ask about my contract and my keys but they basically started ignoring me. I sent a few more emails to the founders telling them what happened. Luckily I had the hand written receipt confirming I paid the rent already. Long story short I eventually managed to get approx. 99% of my back (after telling them what they did might have been illegal) but this is not the end of my story. To my surprise, a month or two later I received an email from one of the founders telling me that they need an access to 'my studio' (one I was not even given access to in the first place) and that by not allowing them an access would be violating the fire safety regulations (????) I kindly explain the situation to this lady letting her know I do not even have a studio there She then sent me a short apology and asked if I am still looking for a studio. I said I actually do and she promised she'd get back to me again this was several years ago I am still waiting lol P.s. forgot to mention I am not local. My experience with this organisation was extremely disappointing. Breeze Creatives made me feel like people from my ethnic minority are not welcome in Newcastle. If you are planning to rent a studio from them please obtain a proof of any payments made to them and make sure you know the name of the person who took the payment. Best Wishes from Poland.
