Ah, the roman's garden. That's what we call it, since it is their old space, they are our 'neighbours'. I've lived next door to it my whole life, it's always been our little patch of ancient history. Haunted too! Unfortunately for the past few years it's been locked up. My dad used to be the keyholder for that padlock the other reviewers talk about. At one point you could knock on our door an we'd let you in. The old man's a great historian, loved to explain the place and all the surrounding roman architecture to people walking the wall. I frankly miss it, but English Heritage decided they couldn't afford to pay him for his duties, so they locked everything up forever (unless you're the grass cutters). Still, it's alright from a distance, and dad still likes a chat now and then when he can. For now, it belongs to the ghosts and the bees. Lots of bees.

(Translated by Google) Interesting sample of Roman engineering, outside the usual tourist circuit, it is worth it if you keep in mind the importance of Hadrian's wall in history. (Original) Interesante muestra de la ingeniera romana, fuera del circuito turstico habitual, vale la pena si se tiene presente de la importancia del muro de Adriano en la historia.

Only issue was the locked gate. So we admired from a short distance

My mams house backs onto it. See it everyday. Nothing special it is what it is. Like looking at it it from her back garden though as it reminds me we still care about history. Other examples nearby also but only small pieces as modern way of living infringes on them. I fully understand why we keep them around to remind us of our past as I'd rather see that than another 2 properties built there.

Right smack bang in the middle of a housing estate you find more Roman history. I dont know if you can go right into the area as there was a padlock on the gate so I didnt try it. The views in the area are wonderful, no wonders the Romans built a village nearby. I had the pleasure of seeing a bee swarm here, hope a local beekeeper came and took them.
