Not to be repeated. Really bad food and pretty bad service. Not as good as a Harvester. Booking a table was really easy and we had a reserved table ready for us when we arrived. The bar had a few people there for a drink and it was a nice day so decided to eat outside. Table service isn't provided to the beer garden but the food would be delivered to the 'patio' one member of staff said but another said they would bring it down. As vegetarians we ordered the literally one thing there was (only roasts menu on Sunday). A nut roast which sounded fine. I happened to be at the bar when food was ready and was told it was left on the patio. Three members of staff stood literally doing nothing with no customers but no help offered. I took my drinks down to the garden. Very disappointed to see my food was actually on a table in the car park. Only 30m to our table so I did two round trips as everything was put in little dishes. The food was dire. The nut roasts were slop pre-drenched in cheap tasting gravy. The plates were cold so the whole lot was cold in the time it took me to walk 60m. The portions of sides were ridiculous with the only generous side being frozen vegetables (we had to go on the first sitting for lunch because they had a full house at 2pm so it's not like they weren't expecting to be busy at some point). When I complained they couldn't prepare a replacement in time for our train so the team leader told me the manager had agreed to refund but no quicker alternatives so ended up hungry. My wife ate hers cold for 15. When leaving and paying for my wife's meal (again 3 staff doing nothing) I was told that they usually provide more potatoes if asked for. So I could have had a whole potato after all if I had asked. I was also told that the manager had agreed to respond to an email if I wanted to send one. I havent because i didn't see why I should help improve their business if they are too busy. Was really looking forward to this meal and just altogether rubbish experience. Food & drinks: Just cold slop, frozen veg and chewy roast potatoes.
