I'm afraid I do not recognise the place receiving these bad reviews. For 2 years my loved one has received nothing but excellent care and support, as have I and her surrogate family, and I would suggest the Facebook page of their activities and programmes are a much better reflection of the place I know. I would have no doubts about recommending the Home.

My mother who had terminal cancer went into the WaterMill care home for two weeks respite care. After one week we decided to take her home because the standard of care being delivered was so awful. During my mothers stay both myself and my sister spent most of the day with her. It became clear to us that the WaterMill is certainly not suitable for seriously ill people who require a lot of care. We would arrive in the morning to discover she had not been washed or showered and not been put into fresh clothes. Basically, unless my sister or myself actually went and found a carer or nurse and asked them to do something, they pretty much ignored her. The staff are utterly clueless and totally disorganised and food offered is terrible. The final straw came when, being unable to summon help, my mother attempted to get out of bed and get to the toilet. She took a serious fall and hit her head. The staff refused to help her and left her lying on the floor until an ambulance arrived (which could have been 2 hours). The staff then just left me and my sister to look after her while they all carried on with their other duties. Shockingly, while my mother lay on the floor seriously injured the care home assistant manager went home! The next day bed rails were fitted to her bed! My mother died in her own home 5 days after getting her out of the WaterMill. I write this review in the hope that it will prevent other people going through the same awful experience.
