Wednesday 3rd May 2023 Today we visited this real ale and food pub which is also a hotel Did not stay in a room This pub served a really good range of well looked after hand pumped ales Friendly staff who were very efficient Food on service been ate looked good, and the pub was an easy-going vomgortable to eat and drink with pleasing to the ears background music

lovely quirky old building in the heart of the town centre. My bedroom was on a slope (again I get it the floors are uneven as it's an old building) but the thing that let it down most was the noise. My god it was terrible till about 3am as its a walk through from all the pubs and bars etc, yes it's an old building but my room right at the top, room 10 has an old window that has an inch gap out into the fresh air at the bottom and the noise just pours in. Maybe invest in some secondary glazing to help. Also fixtures in the bathroom are a bit tired and repairs around the bath and shelf look tatty and rushed. Staff are lovely and the breakfast was fantastic (although at 95 per night for the room it should be included in the price and not a 13 extra). I won't stay again due to the noise but that's the only thing letting this lovely hotel down. Noteworthy details: lively old beams and decor.
