(Just an edit to say they ended up calling the manager and they were very nice and it was resolved amicably which we appreciate) Honestly I don't leave bad reviews which you can see from my previous reviews on Google but this is without a doubt the worst pub experience I've ever had. Made worse by the fact I hadn't seen my family for a long while and I'd just flown in country and we'd arranged to meet at this pub for what was meant to be a quiet, relaxed dinner. It was one of those you have to laugh or you'll cry. I do want to add a quick note to say the lady with the glasses was lovely and was the only good thing about the visit. She deserves huge praise for what she had to deal with and I feel so sorry for her having to put up with it all. Firstly when we arrived we didn't have a table ready even though we booked 2 days prior. When we eventually got sat down it took another 25 mins for someone to take our drinks/food order and then after we ordered we waited so long for our drinks we had to chase up about it. After an hour had passed (of us entering the pub) we tried to find out what was going on and ended up being called rude by this young lad for just trying to find out where our food was (ok you might have been stressed and having a bad day but come on that's no way to talk to someone). The lady with glasses I mentioned before was an absolute star, she apologised for her colleague which wasn't for her to have to do but we appreciated it non the less. Then our food arrived. Dear god if it wasn't bad enough already half the food was burnt, the pie order was incorrect and the fish and chips + Gammon was so salty I actually had to stop eating it (again not something I'd usually do). Now I will say as with all bad reviews it's up to you if you chance it. Clearly they've had glowing reviews in the past and it could of just been a really bad day. They were clearly understaffed so you never know if it'll be ok to go to in the future. But personally I'm not sure I'll bother going back which is a shame as it looked like a nice pub.

Rooms are well fitted out BUT big issue was cleanliness. On arrival wardrobe drawer had not been cleaned for sometime. The toilet was in a poor state. The toilet seat was stained with urine and the toilet pan was dirty. Under the towel rail at wall to floor joint was dirty. We reported this at breakfast next morning. On return after being out for the day and the room being cleaned the only item we raised that had been actioned was the drawer. Unfortunately we then had to add that the tea tray cups hadn't been cleaned nor the old milk removed. The duvets had just been dragged back over the beds with no attempt to properly remake the beds. Positives were restaurant service and breakfasts. Will we stay again? It's handy for our friends so as long as we can be reassured on cleanliness the answer would be yes.
