We economised with a road-facing room rather than a sea-view room since we were only staying two nights and the main reason for our visit was to meet and have lunch with some local family friends. The room was more spacious than expected, and reasonably well-equipped and comfortable. The beds and duvets were very good. Check-in, blue-badge parking and help with our bags (I'm partially disabled) was good, friendly and readily forthcoming. The restaurant meal experience on our first night was good/enjoyable, as was our night's sleep, though we noticed our room (311) was noisy at times, with food tray storage below outside, and staff/workmen and delivery drivers coming and going at certain times. The central heating seemed to take its time to come on, on what was a chilly day, but was fine once on. We took breakfast in the room both mornings and on the first morning mine (cooked) was fine but my wife's (continental) omitted a couple of key items that we had to re-request - and they arrived reasonably quickly. The second morning was fine, though we again noticed very stingy toast portions. Lunch with friends on the second day was good and enjoyed by all. In the evening we just had a room-service snack - again - good. This time the heating only came on - eventually - in one of the four radiators, and then intermittently, so the room was cold. We'd spotted an oil-filled, plug-in, supplementary radiator tucked away in one corner of the room, but were too tired to get it out (or report the matter), so just retired to bed early to keep warm! When we mentioned the heating problem to Reception on check-out, it transpires that a number of rooms have supplemental heaters. We enjoyed local walks (me on my power wheelchair) down to the harbourside and promenade towards Avon beach, both afternoons. Local shops were handy for odd purchases. All-in-all, an enjoyable mini-break and meeting with friends, and good food (not cheap but fair value for the quality) and service. Handy location for the harbour and beach, and seaside walks. It's a pity though about the room we had obviously potentially(/frequently?) suffering from being chilly, and a bit noisy at times. The hotel did politely contact us afterwards to apologise for the heating problem, and assure us of their best attention etc if we revisit, and that they would have acted to remedy the issue had we reported it at the time it occurred.
