We would highly recommend Jon and his team who did a brilliant job at our hostel when we found that one of our kitchen floor joists had cracked and water from damaged guttering was penetrating under the floor causing significant damage. Jon quickly identified the problem and together we created a detailed work schedule and agreed a fee structure. His team carefully removed the kitchen and replaced all rotten joists and installed tanking as well as replaced guttering and solved the water penetration issue. Jon was so positive and came with a can do attitude. Our centre was back up and running in no time at all ready to accept guests to the hostel. We can only admire Rivergate Developments Ltd for helping us out in our moment of need and would recommend their hard work and professionalism. Services: General construction, Installation

Cant recommend Rivergate highly enough. My bathroom roof leaked & pretty much destroyed my bathroom. Dave came out to assess the damage and promptly provided me with a quote to do the work. We would not recommend Rivergate Developments. It sounds like Jen who wrote a previous review has had a similar experience to us, in fact the majority of her words could have been mine! We had a double storey extension added to our property by Rivergate Developments 2021. We had quotes from a number of construction companies and they appeared professional. We were given a timescale which even with unexpected curveballs thrown in was months out. This was because the company were trying to spread themselves too thinly but also due to workmen not turning up for days on end, countless sick days and 'delays' with materials and 'specialist' contractors. In December 2021 our newly installed external stable door was meant to be getting repaired, months after the building company had left the job. Paint was coming off the middle strip of the door so a part had allegedly been ordered. They were also meant to be respraying the whole door because their men left exploded expanding foam all over it. The door looks like it's got moss growing all over it because of their error. It's an awful fit as they originally ordered composite but changed to upvc to keep costs down but didn't remeasure. It's not square. We're still now in September 2022 waiting for the door to be repaired. I've waited in when repairs were meant to happen for nobody to turn up. The worst part for us has been the fact we weren't told before works commenced that movement could occur in the rooms above the building works because of the building being propped. It damaged our bedroom walls which were patch plastered but we had to pay for decorating. Worse of all it has cracked a lot of our bathroom wall tiles which was in perfect condition before the building company arrived. The owner of the company said they could add some tiles if we could get the same but they had been discontinued. There was no offer of rectifying their damage with other tiles and since we have had leaks to our downstairs room. The green feature wall paint in the dining area has been awful since it was completed, really patchy which has been brought to Rivergate's attention on many occasions but hasn't been rectified. The amount of things we could add to a snagging list is ridiculous but have decided to let it go because we just get fobbed off. They can't accept any feedback that isn't positive either verbal or written, they become challenging. Services: General construction, Home building, Home renovations

Avoid this company, they make false promises and let you down. We were promised completion in 6 weeks and the kitchen remodel took 6 months because they either send no workmen all week or they send one person for one day and the rest of the week nobody appears. The owner John Cousins, simply has too many jobs running concurrently and couldnt careless about the impact on his customers. Its incredibly stressful to deal with the John, he doesnt communicate and when he does he is rude and monosyllabic. We had no project manager on the job and workmen were sent without adequate instruction and then verbally bullied for doing the job wrong. His workmen are all frustrated with the chaotic work practices and dealing with frustrated customers. 15 tradesmen have left the company since Christmas, this speaks for itself. John is only interested in his bottom line, if you do have the misfortune of using Rivergate then please check everything. He overcharged us on our final bill and some things that should have been included we always got the reply I didnt allow for that in the costing. Some of the finishes are inadequate and we have had to pay other tradesmen to rectify, such as bumps under the LVT and plaster work which had only been done where the original wall was and not the entire wall. We are left feeling let down and disappointed and wouldnt want anyone else to experience the stress we have. Services: Install flooring, Kitchen remodeling
