I am very fortunate to live in the area and have known it for thirty four years. I have no idea when the estate agents started to name this part of Barnes Little Chelsea. Obviously a good selling point. Within the boundaries of little Chelsea we have a variety of cafes and restaurants from cross street to white Hart Lane. Four places to go for a drink is The Tree House, Whitehart pub, Brown Dog on Cross Street and at the other end of whitehart Lane is Barnes only Irish pub The Stag's Head with live free music. St Michael's is on cross street and The Healing Church is on Whitehart Lane. There is a Rick Stein's within walking distance. We also have local shops such as news agents, dry cleaners, upholstery and a Sainsburies with a cash machine. There is one main primary school Barnes Primary, lots of little cottages nestled alongside the estates. Vine Park is within walking distance, also Barnes Bridge and Barnes Station and Mortlake all within reach. We have an abundance of Salons and antique shops, hairdressers and gift shops, as well as a flower shop and estate agents and an architect. It is a vibrant and breathing community its an area not just for the rich but houseses a diverse range of people from all backgrounds and walks of life. We are fortunate to have such a diverse community. Certainly an area that invites you to wander around. Also home to the Barnes White rabbit. You can catch a glimpse of him every first if the month. The local community come together every December for the Whitehart Lane late night shopping. An opportunity to hear carols, meet the shop keepers, have a tipple and do your Christmas shopping. It has a lovely sense of beingness. Other business are framers, pet grooming and also vets.
