I have been working with Travis since last year to improve my drawing and painting skills. Travis is an excellent teacher and mentor, very patient with all the questions that I have, and guides me in a very structured and methodical manner in my drawings and paintings. His guidance has helped me improve my paintings and drawings to a great extent! Very glad and lucky to have such a teacher! :)

My name is Carolina Smith and I contacted Travis because I wanted to improve my painting. Travis observational skills combined with his expertise and commitment to teaching have allowed me to gain a better understanding of all the elements that allow for a good quality piece of art. I strongly recommend anyone interested in improving their painting and or drawing skills to try a one to one session with him. It requires dedication and commitment but you won't regret it.

I enrolled in the Mentorship program with Travis and I can say that of all the mentorship programs I enrolled, this one was by far the best! The format of the lectures are very organized and Travis is a great teacher and artist (take a look at his art portfolio)! The weekly meetings you have are recorded for you to use them for future reference. He goes through your assignment in great detail, pointing out specifically what you need to change and HOW to change it. He is very encouraging but also honest because he really wants you to learn not only how to draw/paint, but also creating the highest quality art as professionals do. He takes the time to explain to you anything you will ask him and you can tell he loves teaching art. He genuinely cares for his students and really wants you to learn. You will go through some challenging assignments (as every Atelier tends to do) but this is how a future artists learn. Don't worry though, because no matter how intimidating an assignment may look, Travis will help you as much as possible to make it grade-school level easy! Plus at the end of that "chapter" you will have created some amazing drawings! Also, the pace is super comfortable; Travis will make sure that you have mastered a topic (shading, line-quality, measurements etc) BEFORE moving to the next one. I was a complete beginner in drawing and in 2.5 months of mentorship with Travis I learned stuff that would normally take me probably a year or more! My shading technique from a complete noob turned into almost a professional level. I also took other classes and courses for shading but their way of teaching was very sloppy and difficulty to grasp. Travis, on the other hand, showed me some techniques to make shading easier and more methodical, the way Master artists were shading and now I am very confident with shading any drawing I make! I also enrolled to drawing class from a popular online Concept Art school and by using Travis' techniques and suggestions, I applied them to my assignments for that class and I can say with confident that out of the 18 students in that class, I was placed in the top 3. My drawing techniques (as I learned from Barnes Atelier) were beyond the standards of that class and mind that I started with Travis as.a complete beginner in drawing. I really believe the price for the mentorship of GBP299/month is very low, considering the quality of education you receive and the attention you get from the teacher. I really cannot thing of anything negative with Barnes Atelier Mentorship program. The only thing was the time difference between California, USA and London, which I had to wake up early for the meetings but every artist (or future artists) has to make some sacrifices to achieve their goals right? Highly Recommended. Trust me on that!
