We rented both The Buttery and Cromlech House for two families. Total 12 people. The accommodation is large and could comfortably have taken a far bigger party. The Buttery has a great dining table around which everyone can congregate for supper. The bedrooms are large and there are plenty of bathrooms. The houses made a perfect base and really were a home-from-home. Mortehoe itself is a small village, but has two good pubs, a fish and chip shop, a takeaway restaurant and more. The Ship Aground is perhaps the more picturesque of the two, but we found the Chichester Arms more friendly, with great food and locals who will give you the low-down on where to go and what to do. Good tips included the Sri Lankan Beach Cafe on Barricane Beach and the walks across to Morte Point (keep your dog on a lead to protect the sheep). It's a circa 15 minute walk down to Woolacombe from Mortehoe, or less than a five minute drive. The walk back is great if you like hilly walks and getting the heart pumping; if not take the car or walk down and get a cab back (another tip from a local). Woolacombe beach is extraordinary. A massive expanse of sand with great waves for boarding. Dogs are allowed on the far side of the stream that divides the beach, and past the rocks they are allowed off the lead. in summary, Mortehoe is a super little village. Woolacombe beach is first class. The views from the cliff tops at Mortehoe are spectacular and The Crescent is the perfect base from which to explore the lot. Oh - and Dominic was super helpful throughout the booking process, and answered any questions we had promptly whilst we were there.

We had a brilliant time at the Crescent. It is the prefect house for a large gathering of friends and/or family. We had the most memorable big birthday celebration. It is very well located away from the hussle of Woolacombe (which is easily accessible if that is your desire!) but within easy access of great walks, restaurants and pubs. The house itself is very thoughtfully designed and offers very flexible accommodation with (unusually) sufficient bathrooms for all. The kitchens are incredibly well equipped and there is a washing machine and tumble dryer. Dominic, our host was great, incredibly helpful and accommodating. We can recommend this in the highest terms.
