Lovely little shop with souvenirs, really good ice cream and a particularly nice takeaway tea! Friendly & helpful.

This is a lovely village store in the beautiful village of Mortehoe BUT the service was appalling! We popped in for some ice cream and were served by a very grumpy man who made heavy weather of what should have been a simple transaction. The family ahead of us gave up and walked out with frustration and we heard them later outside venting that frustration. However, we wanted our ice cream so pressed on with our order. None of the tubs of ice cream were labelled but there was a small chalk board on the counter top listing the options but it was by no means obvious which tub related to each chalk board description and I didn't have my reading glasses to hand. I dared to ask what one of the tubs contained and was curtly told that they're listed on the chalk board and then proceeded to begrudgingly read them out. I said that didn't really help and could he please tell me what was in the tub at the back saying "it looks like ginger". The curt response was "well it's not, it's honeycomb". Having then bought and paid for two ice creams we were eating them outside the shop on the pavement when Mr Grumpy came outside to have another go at us. And he thinks all this is 'great' customer service!!! What a

If you come to Morthoe for any reason you have to visit the shop from the outside it appears small but is a aladdins cave of everything you could need and more. This is place we always visit when we come away to the best part of england. From a simple chalk sign that draws you in with a promise of a 1 tea or coffee.Which i have to add was really good you really cant complain. To the cakes on the counter freshly brought in locally from a baker and the simple offer of a plastic knife to stop my two children fighting over it.How can you not be won over by that customer service!.This shop does everything right in my eyes local food and produce at great prices all served with a smile just what you need its a credit to area long may it continue This shop has all your needs be it meat for your bbq gins beers.I am pretty sure if you couldnt see it on display they would have it out back.We needed emergency pack of playing cards for the kids and we got them here. I am a firm believer in supporting local business where i can and this shop is a gem.The staff are always happy and welcoming and the price of local prouduce is exellent. We will be back again soon.
