St Andrew's Church in Moretonhampstead was a chance encounter driving through Dartmoor rather than a planned visit. Despite standing on a Saxon site, the current structure is 15th century. The external stair turret is a common feature in Dartmoor churches. A whole set of new pews were added in 1856. Further restoration in 1905 lengthened the chancel and added much of the stained glass. The organ was installed and the chancel screen repaired. Minton tiles replaced the wooden floors and plaster was stripped from the walls.
