Very very unpleasant experience indeed. We pre booked a narrow boat for a days hire for 200 and were looking forward to a nice day out on the water. The policy here is that upon collection of the boat a 500 holding deposit is taken, in case you damage the boat or anything along the way. We simply asked politely if they offered an indemnity insurance policy similar to when hiring a bike, car, van etc. Their reply and attitude was combative from the start stating that "these are our rules, after covid we're so busy we don't have to waste time talking about our rules and if you don't like it you can go somewhere else!". I was dumfounded at how quickly and unnecessary the escalation was. The rudeness was completely unnecessary, we didn't challenge his answer, we simply wondered if the option was available. We tried to pacify him by showing that we understood where he was coming from but it was too late and he continued in full rant. Very careless with his words and an angry man. Maybe lots of people ask about the deposit? Who knows. Maybe he's better with boats than people...

Bath Narrowboats facilities down the Somerset Coal Canal near Dundas aqua duct are excellent, restaurant, boat hire and all you would want at a one stop spot. They also provide a complete narrow boat service facility including hull blackening, complete paint jobs, mechanical & electrical services & repair. The staff are extremely knowledgable, helpful and a all round great group of guys, I would seriously recommend visiting for pleasure and any of your boating needs.
