When we stayed at Coachmans a few years ago it was advertised as the large garden for just us and our dogs. We had 3 small elderly dogs at the time, a dachshund, a scotty and a toy poodle. While we were staying there we found that next door had 2 large dogs, one being a Japanese Akita and these were always in the garden and by the cottage we were staying in. One day as we were walking back to the cottage they had both suddenly appeared in front of us blocking our way back to the cottage, they had jumped the dividing fence. The Akita, without warning went straight for my toy poodle attacking him and throwing him up into the air. I went to grab it and it growled at me and then they both ran off. We had to take Scooby, the poodle to the vets and were told he was lucky to be alive as the bite was so close to puncturing his heart. The owners of the Akita didn't want to know when we went to see them, its a semidetached house. They refused to pay his vets bill and i had to take them to small claims court to try and get it back. I got most of it back but not fully. Scooby was never the same since, i would find him sat shaking and trembling and after the attack he would never leave my side. The owners of Coachmans weren't interested in what happened and were no help at all. We had to cut short our holiday as Scooby was so shaken up. The court decided in our favour as Scooby only weighed 7lbs and we were told the Akita at least seven stone. We used to go alot to their cottages but after this happened we have never been back!!!!
