We booked and paid a deposit to Millmead hall for our childrens birthday party over 2 months ago for this Saturday 14/01/23, on Friday my wife messaged the contact for the hall to confirm the booking/arrival arrangements for the next day and was messaged back after 9pm to be told that our booking was cancelled! My wife was absolutely distraught as we had booked a bouncy castle/ face painter and got all the food/balloons etc prepared. We found out after some messaging that the hall had been double booked and that they were not willing to cancel the other booking. Whilst we understand that mistakes can happen to be cancelled with only 14hours notice of the party starting is appalling, had my wife not messaged on the Friday Im sure we would have not received any notice until we arrived on the Saturday morning. Very very luckily at such short notice we were able to book another nearby hall (after making calls till nearly 11pm on the Friday!) and the party could go ahead. Ive been given assurances that this would not happen in future and have had some financial compensation for the cancellation but I still could not recommend anyone to book this hall for such an event. Had we not been able to book the other hall the compensation wouldnt even have covered the cost of the bouncy castle let alone all the other items.
