Great, proper country pub, with consistently good food, service and beer. We stay in nearby Richmond twice each year and always make sure we visit the Shoulder of Mutton each time - weve been eating here for about six years now. Booking ahead is useful as theyre usually busiest early in the evening (and closed Monday and Tuesday). Theres always a staple of things they do very, very well - such as a steak pie, fish and chips, fish pie, cheese souffl, sharing boards etc - as well as specials, such as black pudding bon bons and deep fried squid. Youll usually be spoiled for choice, put it like that. Were big fans of Black Sheep and thats usually on tap. The steak pie is consistently good, as are the double dipped chunky chips. Highly recommended.

Great food, there were 5 of us and we all picked something different. We were all very happy with our meals. All piping hot and freshly cooked. Staff really friendly.
