Gentian House

Gentian House is a real gem. Tucked away in the centre of Middleton in Teesdale. The greeting is warm and welcoming. First impressions are very positive. The house is immaculate. A proper home from home. The owner explains the house layout and soon shows us to our room. The room is on the first floor. The room far outweighs our initial expectations. The room is light and airy. The en-suite, like the room, is also immaculate. The view to the rear of the property takes in a bronze age monument called Kirkcarrion. The wi-fi is a bit hit and miss. Although that can be a positive. The bed is firm and very comfortable. The quiet is amazing. I'd forgotten what the sound of silence was like. We slept very well indeed. Breakfast was the best we have enjoyed for quite some time. The freshly chopped strawberries and melon, with fresh cream were particularly tasty. The cooked breakfast was also a delight, with most of the ingredients being sourced locally. The bacon, sausage and black pudding were very tasty indeed. This is the first time we have visited Gentian House. Our usual lodgings were booked up. Next time we visit Middleton in Teesdale, Gentian House will be our first choice. The price was better also. Including breakfast it was cheaper than our previous lodgings. Thank you for our stay, we will certainly return.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at gentian house b&b , I couldn't rate it highly enough , the whole place is spotless and the rooms are amazing value for money , the decor is excellent, and the breakfast which is sourced locally will satisfy the heartiest appetite , it is run by a lovely lady who can't do enough for her guests ,thank you for a great 2 days , Phil and Valerie Boyack
