Visited this location yesterday. The owners were very friendly, polite and informative. This location is kept in an immaculate condition, very clean an tidy with facilities. I can not wait to fish their lakes.

Hello everyone I visited this fishery for the first time ever ,I had been looking forward to showing my grandchildren all about fishing. We had a pack up for picnic and walked to lake as I live in Metheringham village. Unfortunaly when my and the grandkids arrived I was not even in the lakes but greeted by the owner a lady who lives onsite. I could not believe how rude and down right horrid her attitude and persona was to me . She blantlely told me I was not allowed to take the children to the lakes as it was one child per Adult. Ok I understand that I said but we are OK then as she was obviously not aware that grandad and son and a close friend was already in her lakes as they drove round earlier to set up . When I told her this ,she spoke more nasty repeating no I was not allowed on the lake . I explained that I don't mind paying for the grandchildren obviously I didn't expect nothing for free . But once again' Not budging or even explaining to me why I could not be allowed to have a couple of hours with them to show them what a joy it is to sit and wait in watch the fish hoping for a bite . I told her I needed to inform my partner and other at the lake we would not be joining them and you can image the surprise along with a couple who overheard the womans horrible unneeded words to me a the little ones . We went on to potterhanworth lakes and was greeted with a friendly smile and enjoyed the couple of hours after all and the children loved fishing. I must say I have no idea why I was down on here for saying 5 * and a nice lake ! Was not me put that review up for sure . So basically beware fishing with children at fen lake Metheringham as you may get a big surprise , and I don't mean a fish in your net ! More like a rude greeting with horrible woman indeed

I was welcomed as soon as i walked up to entrance by a lady with a very sour expression on her face .I was excitedly looking forward to showing my 5 grandchildren for the 1st time what happens when you go fishing and knew it was something they was yet to experience. We had spent the evening prior to visit researching fishing on you tube and getting organised with making a picnic etc . I have lived in Metheringham for 15 years plus and was very shocked to greeted with the young ones in tow , by such rudeness. She told me sorry I and the children was not allowed in .. She stated that it was 1 child per 1 Adult. What she did not seem to realise was that my partner and 3 friends had already arrived before us. I said well that's brilliant as we have family members already on the lake. She then told me "they are all not fishing"( being only 1 of 4) . I offered to pay and explained I didn't expect to come for free. She told me "they" meaning the grandchildren were NOT FISHING THOUGH",? I could not believe that even explaining the whole point of today was to show them it and how to fish , so YES they would be fishing . But my words were not heard and was turned away . We went on to Potterhanworth fishing lakes and was welcomed, all of us with a smile , and the lakes was full of very big and healthy Carp. We all had a great time and the grankids loved seeing the skill and techniques involved and throughly enjoyed the day. So Fen lakes is not a lake you would welcomed to if you have children . A couple just coming off the lake shook there heads in disbelief and remarked "there was no need of that and how bizarre "!! I always thought fishing was a family oriented hobby and enjoyed by all .. NOT AT THIS LAKE IN METHERINGHAM .. Sorry I can't believe the horribleness and miserable attitude of some people today .
