Absolutely dreadful - avoid at all costs! If you have had work done by this trader then please get it checked out by a competent person. Mark is pleasant to your face but seems blissfully unaware of some of the basic regulations and safety issues, as well as current good practice, preferring to work to standards that other electrical contractors have described as being common 30 years ago. Basic failings include: Putting in mains ring spurs on a full house rewire, which is completely unnecessary, including to a socket that might be connected to an electric fire, with a consequent potential for overloading. Not enclosing wiring in conduit under plastered walls, which is not mandatory but is normal good practice nowadays as it helps with future maintenance if the wires need attention Leaving old red and black wiring in place even when doing a full rewire, which is fraud pure and simple. Mounting a socket face up on the floor of the loft under the insulation so that it fills up with dust and dirt and creates a potential fire hazard. Using twin and earth for exterior lighting contrary to regulations. Running cables on the outside of the house instead of internally, even on a rewire, which is totally unnecessary. Running cables in notches on the tops of the joists without adequate protection from penetration by nails, instead of through the centre of joists which is normal practice nowadays, also meaning that wires ended up next to heating pipes contrary to regulations Installing a spur off the ring mains for the hot water cylinder contrary to regulations, instead of a radial spur from the consumer unit. Installing sockets below the minimum height above the kitchen work surface contrary to regulations, making it impossible to plug in some appliances without squashing the cable from the plug. Destroying two of my joists by drilling them out to accommodate spotlights contrary to bolding regulations, rendering the floor above unsafe and a potential fire hazard from the lack of air flow around the light fittings.. Ruining a perfectly good consumer unit by drilling a hole for the main supply in the wrong place instead of using the place indicated by the manufacturer. Abandoning the job and leaving live wires accessible and exposed. Refusing to finish the job and blaming the customer for no good reason, leaving the property unusable.. There are probably a few other things that I haven't thought of.
