Pierre Hourlier Wines is an outstanding wine merchant. I've known Pierre for many years as he has supported our Wine Society with many tastings and talks. He sources his wines with great personal care and integrity, trading on the timeless principles of trust. His speciality is Languedoc-Roussillon, but his reach is much wider than this leading to a rich and varied selection many of which are exclusive to Hourlier due to his personal sourcing strategy. The shop/cellar in Melbourne (UK!) is a treasure trove for wine lovers and well worth a visit. A rare gem in an increasingly commoditised world.

I highly recommend Pierre Hourlier Wines for anyone who shares my passion for wine. Under the guidance of Pierre and JP, my appreciation and knowledge of wine have grown significantly. The shop boasts a diverse selection of affordable and high-quality wines, making it a fantastic resource for both novice and experienced wine enthusiasts alike. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of Pierre Hourlier Wines and the exceptional service provided to customers by Pierre and his team.

What a fantastic place! Amazing selection of French wines from small producers, artisanal French foods - cassoulet, soups, tinned fish, pat - and port. The owners deal with the producers direct, which means that the selection they are selling is very different from what's on sale in most UK wineshops. I was particularly impressed by the wide selection of wines from Languedoc-Roussillon, Province and the South-west. And great service from the helpful and friendly owner.

While I am not a great connoisseur of wines, I know what I like and I have been fortunate to have travelled the world and experienced some of the finest wines. JP Hourlier Wines, personally know all of the vigneron who produce the wines they sell in their Melbourne Derbyshire wine cellar. But most important of all, JP Houlier know their individual clients tastes. My wife and I have totally different palettes, yet with each visit, the Hourlier Family always surprise, with something special for both of us. Probably the only wine merchants in the UK where you will receive a truly French warm welcome. Its like walking into a local French wine cellar to meet old friends. The collection of wines is extraordinary and at very reasonable prices for the excellent quality of wines. A French jewel hidden in the South of Derbyshire. Not to be missed!
