Scarlet Hotel

When I am in need of winding down the Scarlet is my go to for a spa day. Its a stunning venue located in an excellent location away from the hustle and bustle. The staff are super helpful and friendly (and genuine with it too). The venue is clean, tidy and pretty well maintained. If I could change anything it would be the sauna temp as it wasnt as hot as expected. I will go back without doubt. Great food.

We had an afternoon tea here. It was very nice but pricey. Adults only which is a bonus. Very quiet when we attended so atmosphere was a bit dead! Good cocktails. Food & drinks: Afternoon tea was nice.

Only went for afternoon tea which had been pre-booked. Rang to say we were running a little late and was assured that would be fine. When we arrived we were shown to a side area " for a few minutes". After 20 minutes no one had come for us and we had to go and ask what was happening. We'd been forgotten! We were ushered into the main lounge and the lovely waitress confirmed that "one of you is gluten free". Yes, that's correct. When the waiter brought the afternoon tea he said "they're all gluten free"! Unfortunately we decided not to complain. The gluten free bread was fairly non descript and the sandwich fillings not great. The gluten free scones were dreadful and rock hard. For the price of 30 per person it was not the best experience. I dont think that I would recommend it as there was more waiting around at times. On a plus note the location was fantastic - even in the rain - and the waitresses very pleasant. But it was more costly than other hotels where the afternoon teas were much better.
