This place is out of this world! Linds and ade would do anything for you this is home away from home, the food that they provide is the best I have ever tasted. I love the homely feel the Shepard Hut & Snug gives you! They provide you everything you need for your stay. I cant wait to come again! See you guys soon!

A little hut hidden away in Matlock is purposefully made for adult get aways. Included in your stay is a hot tub outside and a bbq/firepit Finding smiggle was a little tricky, sat nav dropped us in a new housing estate (typical) so we called the owner who directed us. It would make sense for some outdoor signage leading you into smiggle. We were greeted by the owner who was welcoming but also very to the point (it would appear previous guests have not adhered to the guidelines) so a whistle stop tour of our accommodation with a list of dos and donts and we were left to our own devices. Inside the accommodation is very compact a toilet and shower with a small kitchenette and finally the sleeping area all open plan. The bed was comfy but unfortunately if your 6ft+ you wouldnt be able to stretch out fully. Your only source of heat is a small log burner, we were provided with 4 easy light logs and advised any more would be 2 each. It would be much better to be provided with kiln dried logs to keep the fire going as these easy logs dont last long at all. It was also noted that there isnt a co2 alarm just an undated co2 card that should be addressed. The stay was relaxing the hot tub was perfect temperature and worked well outdoor cooking marshmallows was a treat as well. There was no noticeable place for any rubbish/recycling to be left? There is another building on site which I had seen in other reviews but this wasnt made available during our stay, a coffee machine is detailed as available but couldnt find it either. Whilst youre away from home having a connection is a comfort whilst WiFi is shown as available the connection is poor so does not actually work. Something really useful would be to add a local guide for restaurants, bars recommendations etc plus the extra info on things like hospitals, dentists emergency contacts would be advantageous. There is no formal checkout process your asked to leave your towels in the shower tray and the key in the door, we didnt see the owner on departure and didnt get any kind of follow up/thanks for your stayand with it being an Airbnb style direct with host I would of expected something. I think the price is top end of the market for what you actually get, its undoubtedly relaxing and you are able to enjoy your time alone. We did ultimately enjoy our visit and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere so If you fancy a get away with a hot tub then give it a shot! Further, Matlock and Bakewell have some fantastic food and drinks venues and a variety of shops so theres plenty to do as well.
