Sheriff Lodge Bed and Breakfast

Sheriff Lodge turned out to be the ideal place to stay when recently visiting National Trust properties in the area. Ideally situated and within walking distance of the pretty town of Matlock. Ziz made us very welcome from the moment we arrived until departure. The bedroom was quiet, comfortable and clean with a good selection of tea/coffee. The en-suite bathroom provided us with a good shower and all toiletries. Breakfast, in the tastefully decorated lounge/dining room, was delicious and plentiful. Ziz also recommended good restaurants in the area, for which we were grateful and where we ate well. Good wifi connection and signal! We would certainly recommend Sheriff Lodge and would like to return again.

I was very impressed the this guess house, and The Sheriffs Lodge, really did feel like guest house as apposed to a more basic b&b. Ziz was a friendy and social host, and made use feel welcome from the minute we arrived. We had 2 cars and there is only 1 parking space per room, but she was able to find an additional area where we could fit our second car. When we arrived everything was clean and tidy and there was no pressure to leave as soon as breakfast had finished in the morning. The only thing I noticed about the room was one missed cobweb in a corner, and due to the fact that the building is an older one, when it was electrified, the two double sockets in the room were not positioned well for charging mobile phones. Otherwise everything was tiptop. The location was perfect for walking in to Matlock town, and only a 5 taxi ride back again after the bars closed. The breakfast selection was excellent, you could have a choice of anything Ziz had in at no extra charge. I have eggs royal with a beautiful homade hollandaise sauce and my brother had a very generous full English breakfast. I would definitely use The Sheriffs Lodge again.

Rooms: Spot on. Food & drinks: The breakfast is fabulous and the addition of an evening meal on Mondays is really helpful. Wine from the honesty bar is terrific value.
