We came across Derwent Valley after we were significantly let down by our old vets in Dec 2020 and they were recommended to us via the Rabbit Welfare Association. We had already lost one of our rescue girl rabbits in Jan 2020, and I honestly think if we were at Derwent Valley they wouldve been able to save her. This week we had an episode with our original boy rescue rabbit Miles, he stopped eating late afternoon on Monday. I was at the emergency vets with him tues morning in the early hours the first treatment option they offered me was putting him under for an X-ray and potential surgery. I knew my boy, as Ive had him for years and this didnt feel right. I knew if we could just keep him going a few more hours wed be safe at Derwent Valley. I rang straight away at 8am and was told to come straight down for 8:30am. Lisa has dealt with our buns a few times and she is just the most fabulous vet. So empathetic, caring and very very knowledgeable. She could see we were both drained from the lack of sleep, and asked if they could admit him on that day to get some fluids and meds into him. Whilst we were at home trying to get some sleep in and look after our rescue girl rabbit, Miles had completely perked up at Derwent and had been eating all the dandelions which the girls had picked, hay and pellets! The team were so lovely and knew we were exhausted, so they held off ringing us so we could rest. Which I thought was just so considerate. When we had some rest, I rang as soon as I had woken up and was absolutely delighted to hear the receptionist say, oh Miles, thats the cute bunny thats been eating everything. Music to our ears. 3/4 days later the little guy seems back to his normal self and is enjoying being back at home with his buddy Florence. I just cant thank you all enough, from the reception team, to the nurses, to the vets you are just a wonderful team. And you guys make very stressful and upsetting situations that little bit easier. Were hopefully going to see you in less stressful times next month when the little man comes for his yearly vaccines. But thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, you are all amazing superstars
