Oak Tree Cottage

Absolutely lovely cottage we rented for a week. From the start it felt comfortable and homely, with enough space for four of us and two dogs, there's also plenty of parking available. The Nordic Cabin was great, with wood supplied and an easy to start fire. The cottage is quite close to the road, with an easy to miss entry, but we didn't experience much noise. A fantastic place, well worth a booking.

Beautiful cottage, centrally located for the Derbyshire dales! We stayed a few nights with family for a pre-Christmas celebration and we found the house to be warm and welcoming. Two of the bedrooms are upstairs with a family style bathroom and the other is downstairs which facilitated our family sleeping arrangements very well. Of the two upstairs bedrooms, the one closest to the road does get some of the road noise in the morning with lorries beginning their deliveries early on weekdays however we did adjust to this after the first night (weekends are very quiet). All windows have locks with keys hanging nearby, we really appreciated this as you know it is safe but can unlock them easily when needed. The kitchen is very well equipped and we found everything we needed for a Christmas dinner for 6. Outside, there is plenty of parking for 3 cars, the cottage is very outdoors friendly with hard wearing carpets at the entrances and even a boot brush to avoid bringing mess into the house. There are walks from the front door and a beautiful forest with many varieties of fungi to hunt, pleasing the children and adults alike. There are lots of walking routes from the house and 2 different ways to access the high peak trail - details kindly provided by the owners. The log cabin and fire are beautiful, well lit, stocked and cared for and we felt like guests staying here, like we were really well looked after. Nothing was too much for the owners, who live off site, they gave us privacy however were attentive, kind and polite. This place was a real joy and we will be returning in the summer to enjoy more that the area has to offer. Great little holiday! I would highly recommend this accommodation.
