Very friendly young couple , we do wish them all the best in their venture , however a lot of work has to be done to achieve success. We stayed 3 nights and our room was left , bin wasn't emptied, we washed up our own cups .Towels were not changed . It says parking but another large car parked on drive so we couldn't get out , luckily we walked most of the time ! Breakfast was nice and Connor was very obliging with cooking whatever we asked for , even went to get me vegetarian sausages especially! It's unfortunate where it's located as have to back out onto busy road ! When paying 110 a night we do expect the essential things like quick tidy of room ! And don't use Booking.com ! Had to cancel booking then re book through the owners day before we went! We do wish them all the best and plan to return next year to see how much it's improved

Arrived at property after booking it on booking.com two days previous, there were three people waiting outside who had been trying to get hold of the owners for an hour. No one arrived at the property, of the two numbers available one didn't work and the other just rang out. I sent a text msg to the number that rang out and eventually got a reply saying that the property was shut for 7 days because of a water leak. They blamed Booking.com, but booking.com did not know of this problem and did refund me. Booking.com were also trying to get hold of the owners whilst we were sat outside. So 5 guests were left waiting outside with no communication and no where to stay!

AVOID STONE LODGE AT ALL COSTS!!! We arrived to an empty lodge, no welcome and very little parking space. We were allowed to park up at midday and check in 3pm at the earliest. We then received a text at 3:02pm alerting us to a burst water main from a week ago and tried to put all the blame on Booking.com for not alerting us. We were conveniently told this AFTER payment had gone through, no attempt was made by the lodge to contact us before payment was due and, of course, Booking.com were not aware of their apparent leak issues and the agreement to find substitutes locally at no additional cost.. We had two numbers, one rang out and the other was for The Cables Hotel next door. We obtained a 2nd number once they responded to our concerned messages, and once we alerted the lodge we would be contacting official channels to raise concerns and get help as we were stranded the refund was agreed. Booking.com were very helpful in saying they will try and make contact with the lodge to get our money back and agreed to let us find our own accommodation within a similar price range and refund the difference if it was a higher price. All in all our stay at THE RIVERBANK GUEST HOUSE in Matlock was lovely, everything you'd expect from a well run B&B and I'd say our holiday worked out better for where we ended up staying, minus the 2 hours of frantically trying to sort out new accommodation which unfortunately Stone Lodge took from our short stay. After all that, when going back to visit Matlock Bath, we saw THEY WERE OPEN AGAIN on two consecutive days after driving past multiple times... their apparent main water leak conveniently seemed to have been fixed quickly, with no sign of Severn Trent or any other company in attendance. If you want to stay in the area in a well run Guest House, AVOID STONE LODGE!

Avoid at all costs! The owners according to Booking.com say I stayed here when they were actually shut. I had arrived on site at the correct time and had paid in advance to find the premises locked with no one there. 3 other people had also arrived. After numerous attempts to call the owners we eventually got a message saying they were closed because of a mains water leak. I contacted booking.com who are extremely unhelpful and even with all the proof they insist I stayed there because the owners say so. Even now I still can't contact the owners they do not answer the phone or reply to messages. I am forced to seek legal advice now to get my money back.. You have been warned stay here at your peril! And do not use booking.com.
