Been going to Pret a Manger for years to get both food and drinks. Always had a great experience but nothing like this branch.
My experience: I ordered my drink when I was alone in the queue, one member of staff was cleaning, one chatting and somebody at the till. I checked with the till if the colleague was aware of the order and she turned to what I thought was to make the drink, instead looked around various cups that seemed to have been left behind and proceed to pour milk.
I felt I was going to drink something that had been around for a while so when I mentioned to them I got an overreacted response and got asked several times how I want the drinks to be made? and that they are very busy.
They became very agitated until they offered a fresh drink to which of course I accepted, other customers arrived to the till at this point as they kept raising their voice. While the drink was made, one of the employees proceeded to say to what appeared another customer how rude I was and that they were about to shout at me, all in Spanish thinking I could not understand (I was shocked but I speak the language so I responded) he then became more agitated and continued to create a scene and make remarks about accent when realised I could speak the language. (He didnt know if I could talk the language so remarks about accent were not even considered when he began to say untruthful facts to another customer)
I kept saying I did not want to drink something that had been left around for I dont know how long and that I saw how the employee took a random cup to pour hot milk.
It felt like they had been caught and got defensive about it, but I did not feel like being diminished and humiliated for raising a concern so I defended myself but it seemed the whole situation was about that.
