He was also reluctant to write the condition's name on paper when he told me my suspected diagnosis. I thought it would be helpful since I am forgetful, so I couldn't understand why he responded this way. When he eventually wrote it down, he followed it with, "Your GP would probably be annoyed if you mentioned the name." Again, staring at him, I was in disbelief. I wanted to tell him about himself but chose to let it go; I didn't have the energy.
In addition to all of that, I did not appreciate his unsolicited advice on how I should spend my money. He was very patronizing; I am fully aware of my finances and know what I am getting into. Telling me how much a procedure cost is acceptable; telling me I will use up all my money is not. This experience made me think, if I wasn't brown, a woman, and was considered solvent, would I be treated this way? I work in care and wouldn't dream of behaving like this with my clients.
Avoid this place if you are a fee-paying brown person that wants to be treated with respect and care.
